This morning a team arrived bright and early at the Summit offices to prepare and distribute breakfast bags to 200 employees at the 20 offices surrounding the Brier Creek Campus. It was an awesome opportunity to get to know some of our neighbors a little bit better, and to spread some Summit love around the Presidential Park area.
The coolest part of the morning was praying for those who would receive the care packages. We prayed for a business who has had to lay off a majority of its work force. We prayed for various Summit members who are employees around Presidential Park, that they would be salt and light in their workplace. We prayed for our future relationships with these companies, that God would allow us to pastor our neighborhood faithfully.
(And just to make sure we were keeping it real, I personally touched and repackaged at least 200 Chicken Minis from Chick-Fil-A and prayed for those who would ingest my germs. That’s taking the old-school televangelist prayer cloth to a whole new level.)
The 2009 crop of Institute students were a driving force behind this morning’s effort, as well as some of our Campus Outreach staff, and I dug hanging out with them. I’m especially grateful to wonder-Instituters Whitney & Joe, who have been working closely with the AM Campus this summer. It’s safe to say that the morning wouldn’t have happened without them. You can read more about their contribution to today’s events here.
What are you doing for Week of Hope? If you haven’t signed up yet, it’s not too late. Do it here. Do it now.
Every office got a bag filled to the brim with Chick-Fil-A stuff, Panera bagels, mixed fruit, and coffee.
This was enough coffee to feed 200. Or Adam Moore.
Technically, Trevor and Anna go to the Evening Campus, but I still claimed this project as an exclusive AM job. Boo-yah.
Some of our awesome Instituters. Or Campus Outreach staff. People in their early 20’s all look the same to me.
